"My Extraordinary Life" is the true story of Dr. Stephen P. Shao, Sr., a Chinese-American Scholar born in the small town of Zarkow, China in 1924. He revisits the autobiographical account of his memoir "Memories in Two Nations: China and the U.S.A." while sharing additional facts that he unearthed regarding his ancestry and special recollections from his personal journals.
Dr. Shao knew he had an extraordinary life even though he had grown up in poverty and fear due to warlords, Japanese invasions and World War II. He witnessed these invasions in his own backyard and still managed to fight, against all odds, for an education to eventually graduate from Hunan University with honors.
He kept persisting and immigrated to the United States sailing on the USS General Meigs in 1948 to further his education to the highest degree, earning a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Shao's legacy continued as he gave this extraordinary gift of education to all eight of his children and then wrote it all down to share with you.
