This is the story of Gordon Lee and the war during the years of January 6, 1941 to September 7, 1944—a short span of time in the life of a New Mexico youth who saw companionship, love, endurance, heroism, atrocities, and sacrifice before succumbing to the ultimate price of war. This story tracks Gordon from Portales, New Mexico to Ft. Bliss, Texas and beyond—through the Battle for the Philippines, the Bataan Death March, Prisoner of War Camps, and finally death on the Hell Ship Shinyo Maru at Sindangan Bay in the Philippines.
