This book has exactly one rule, and it isn’t really a rule: there is no wrong way to be here. Some pages will ask you questions. Some will give you room to think out loud on paper. None of them are checking your work. Write in pencil if you want to change your mind later. Write in your messiest handwriting. Skip a page and come back to it in six months — you’ll probably answer it differently, and that’s the point. Your practice is allowed to grow, contradict itself, and change its mind, the same way you do. This volume is about the ground you stand on before you cast a single spell: your foundation, your ethics, and your intent. Nothing here is meant to tell you what to believe. It’s meant to help you notice what you already do.
