Pro mountain bike racer and renowned painter, Ford Hill shatters his knee in a race, possibly ending his racing career. Melissa Alexander, one of the best sports physical therapists in the country, travels to Ford’s home in the Santa Cruz Mountains to help him recover. The Stanford Medical School prodigy has no idea the impact her visit will have on Ford, his family, and most of all her as she becomes part of a family she never had in her own life. Disowned by her doctor parents when she rebelled and withdrew from med school, Melissa becomes friends with Ford's daughter then grows to love his wife as the mother she no longer has.
