Benjamin “Benji” is a thirteen-year-old boy living on a farm with his complicated family. Life is ordinary, filled with chores, school, and a troublesome younger brother, Edmund—except for the strange occurrences surrounding Edmund’s nightly disappearances. One night, Benji follows Edmund into a hidden doorway in their cotton field and discovers a mysterious, otherworldly town that exists beyond reality. At first, it seems magical and welcoming, but Benji soon learns that the town is alive, manipulative, and dangerous. Its inhabitants are hollow shadows, echoing distorted versions of people, and it preys on children who feel overlooked or forgotten. As Benji and Edmund explore the town, they confront horrifying creatures, shadowy entities, and the rules that bind the town’s dark magic. Forced to navigate fear, deception, and the unknown, Benji and Edmund must rely on each other to survive. Together, they face the hollow entity that controls the town, learning that courage, unity, and understanding the rules are their only paths to escape—and possibly, to protect the real world from the town’s creeping influence. A story of bravery, sibling bonds, and the blurred line between imagination and nightmare.
