My Life in a Mask; Why a Christian Conservative Trans Woman Stopped Hiding. To have the feeling, a certainty, that one is trapped in the wrong body is troubling, but the decades spent as a man taught me how to put my feelings aside for the good of my family, my wife, and my children. It was only after death did us part that I began to consider transitioning . . . but even this journey was fraught with hurt, confusion, rejection, and distance -- not to mention the changes this brought on myself.
Told in a conversational style, this book follows my life from a childhood in Michigan and Missouri to the challenges of knowing something was wrong with me but being trapped in a mask until March 2020 when the decision was made to finally and forever take the mask off and live as I knew I was.
The challenges of trying to attend a conservative Pentecostal congregation, my strong political convictions, and letting my family know every secret of my life as I sought and gained their continued love are something I'd never want to repeat, but were unfortunately necessary to become Teresa.
