Extremely Me

The scholarly works of poetry captures material from every aspect that life presents. And from thence, the work is presented to an audience, by way of the poet who is under the influence of an arrogance suggestive of that this is where the prophet dispenses gifts that are detrimental to the spiritual fulfillments of all who receive the gifts. The traditional genre of poetry caused a reaction in my life, in which further developed into my aim to twist the genre to expose a more personal tone of poetry for the art that I present. From what I have learned from my son, this has caused me to look at the work intertwined with my art as what classifies me as a creative, an asterisk alongside my place in the culture of poets. I am a poetic influencer. I walk in the company many giants. Some whose statues tower before seats, some whose work burn through the pages like mercury. I somewhat feel that touch of power that many scribers have held onto throughout history. Carve my name in the annals of good reads. For those of you who have followed my poetry, you know that I started off slowly—holding my tongue. Then, elevating to a slight roar, a little moaning. Beginning with those baby steps. Leading to depended footprints, leaving sole impressions in a world that seems to keep filling up souls with shit. And, I am less careful of my steps that I used to be. Tracking others’ shit, and your shit, across a worldly carpet, because I do what I want to do with this poetry. This is me. Extremely Me.
