These writings are of my recollections of my thirty years in the Police Service.
The Chief Constable of Lancashire County from October 1950 to March 1967 was Sir Eric St. Johnston who, after his retirement, wrote an autobiography entitled “One Policeman’s Story”. His work mentions, amongst other things, his meetings with such august persons as Prime Ministers, Baronets and various members of the Royal family.
My humble story only involves that of dealing with ordinary people, but if it were to have a title I think following the ‘Saint’, it could perhaps be called – “Another Policeman’s Story”.
