"Deepening Faith through Poetry" is a collection of spiritual poems written during the past ten years. Thomas J. Rillo, as a retired university professor, finally found more time to serve God as a lector and Eucharistic minister and to write poems praising Him. Tom’s poetry is an illustrated portrait of his ongoing conversion into a stronger faith life, which was fueled by Cursillo participation, becoming a Benedictine oblate of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, and developing a fuller prayer life. The poems were inspired by the Holy Spirit leading him to situations, places, and people where a gentle soul-felt “nudge” began a poem’s creation. This is definitely a good book for delving into the spiritual situations and lives represented in the seven specific sections. It is a sampler that reminds the reader of his own joys, fears, doubts, and relationships. It demonstrates that one’s prayer and spirituality may take many forms and may be manifested in a diverse collection of situations and individuals.
