Essay on Self-Awareness and Despair

Essay on Self-Awareness and Despair

ByThomas MacDonald

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Self-awareness is the basis for our expression of consciousness as individuals, and is a profound experience which can only be understood by the subjective nature of the mind. We can objectify self-awareness in the sense that we all experience it in a similar way (regardless of the subjective nature of internal processes). Doing so does not change the fact that we all process the world around us in a subjective manner in which we are bombarded on all sides by symbolism, and imagery of the mind. The unconscious mind is but one force that works towards the theme of self-awareness, and this is because it influences us so powerfully at all times. When we are freed of our prejudices regarding life, we are at our most authentic, and this is shown through the unconscious processes that the mind goes through. The authentic here is a representation of the deconstruction of constructs of what is socially, and individually acceptable according to social standards. What I mean is that there is a point where when we are not aware of our thoughts that we truly process the world around us in a primal way. To become authentic is an argument that requires the belief that stripping oneself of outside mores, and restrictions regarding self-awareness is a benefit to the individual.
