He was born and raised in western North Dakota, served in the U.S. Army, and attended North Dakota State University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He and his wife Donna are the parents of two daughters and have lived in Madison, Wisconsin since 1987. Tom is an avid photographer and traveler.
