Rouen Glory, an 11-year-old girl entering middle school, is just trying to make new friends and fit in. However, her life is far more complicated than it seems. She lives with her father, a truck driver with a demanding, low-paying job, which means they rarely spend time together. Abandoned by her mother a few years ago, Rouen often finds herself alone, pouring her thoughts into her fun-fact journal. As she begins to reemerge from her shell for the first time since her mother's disappearance, tragedy strikes, thrusting Rouen into an unimaginable situation. On her journey, she meets a cast of colorful characters and discovers mysterious foes who seem to have sinister motives. As Rouen navigates this new and dangerous world, she uncovers secrets about her past, present, and future.
