A Time-Honored Tradition of Quraanic Writing For centuries, students of the Quraan have used a wooden board, known as a LawH, to write on and memorize the sacred text of the Quraan. A single LawH could hold one Hizb; that is about ten pages of Quraan. This is when writing on both sides of the LawH. After committing the written Hizb to memory, the student would wash the LawH clean. And now with a fresh LawH, he will restart the process of writing out and memorizing a new Hizb.
