In a quiet English village, archaeologists excavating a Templar farm seem pretty exciting to the residents, and the school teacher has the idea of creating a treasure hunt for the children.
Some of the locals have secrets which they don’t want revealed, and all this exploring threatens to accidentally expose things so carefully concealed. And maybe at least one mischief-maker is laying false trails for the fun of it.
The diggers plod on with their mundane task, hopeful of some great discovery, but resigned to the fact that their work usually remains the recovery of fragments of knowledge to add to our picture of the past, rather than the treasure and bones that enthusiastic local people often dream about.
In this gentle tale some puzzles do eventually get solved, a few mysteries revealed, and then life more or less returns to normal, with perhaps a couple of surprises, some happy endings and an pleasant future to look forward to – but no great revelations, no improbable outcomes and no real disasters.
