His younger brother, Callum, calls him in panic from the county jail. He has been arrested for murder. Sure, that his brother would never commit such a crime, Adrian rushes over to help him. However, when he arrives, the evidence against Callum is so overwhelming he finds himself questioning his blind faith in his brother. Could Callum be just like their father? Scared of finding the truth but desperate to prove that Callum is innocent he travels to his hometown, the place at the root of all his nightmares. He finds himself accompanied by his partner, fellow FBI Agent Yuri Zvonecek, one of the only people he knows he can trust unconditionally. The two men investigate the increasingly complicated murder of Callum’s friend Sasha Montgomery while meeting more and more people from Adrian's past, it is difficult to decipher who is a friend and who is foe as they weave their way through the mysteries around Sasha’s disappearance. Sasha, whose activities before her death grow progressively more alarming, makes Adrian suspect that the young girl may have been involved in a cult and that they might be the ones truly responsible for her death and, not Callum. Adrian finds himself embroiled deeper and deeper into the investigation of the cult and with his father’s voice not too far, whispering in his ear, Adrian feels like his hold on reality, and his ability to differentiate between truth and deception is beginning to slip away. Sasha might be alive, but Adrian is not sure that it is not his wishful thinking. Grappling with his demons and resurfacing memories, Adrian struggles to find the truth not only for Callum’s sake but also for his own. He finds himself surrounded by people who are supporting him in his investigation, but he finds it difficult to let them in. Adrian struggles with his dual identity as an agent and a brother as he races to save Callum and Sasha before it is too late.
