“Journey Through Darkness” is about a young adult named Joel who was given a seemingly simple task. All he had to do was return a violin to a famous musician in the next town over. However, the task ended up being not so simple.
The musician was part of the royal family of a nearby town called Sparta, so he was very important. There was to be a big concert the musician was featured in so he needed the violin right away. The violin was being repaired in Springfield, the town where Joel lived. The mayor of Springfield needed someone he could trust to deliver the violin, so he called Joel down to the town hall to ask if he could take on the task. Joel agreed to do it.As he started to walk his first steps into the dark forest path, Joel began to hear strange noises echoing along the line of trees surrounding the path. Suddenly he began to realize that the strange noises were in a rhythmic pattern just like what a musical instrument would make. He wondered how this could be, but then he remembered that he was carrying a musical instrument with him so there must be something in the forest sensing where he is and what he is carrying.
As he kept on moving through the dark path, he started to hear footsteps all around him. All at once there were guards surrounding him. They wanted to hunt down any strangers heading to Sparta. They all had torches on them and began to question Joel about why he was in the first heading to Sparta. The guards didn’t really believe him, so they went to pursue him instantly. Joel was scared and ran as fast as he could through the darkness. He didn’t know where he was or where he was going, but he tried to use certain survival skills his parents had taught him. The guards were gaining and they all had devices to stop him. It felt like a war zone to Joel, but he struggled on. Suddenly, he then looked into the distance after venturing up a steep hill. He saw daylight in the distance. He again ran as quickly as he could. The gates were closing as he was sprinting, but he had made it just in time while the guards were locked out. The prince was standing near the entrance of the town and noticed Joel panting for breath. The musician was waiting outside and was delighted when saw his violin had been repaired and returned safely.
Later that night, the concert was a huge success and it turned out that even though the task was not as easy as Joel thought it would be, he proved that he is dependable and very brave.
