INTRODUCTION This book is a collection of articles I have written in the last few years on various Biblical themes. The Orthodox Church does not believe in the Protestant principle of Sola Scriptura. Nevertheless, she believes in the holiness of the Scriptures, insofar as they “are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work (II Timothy 3.15-17). The Holy Scriptures should not be interpreted on their own (II Peter 1.20), but in conjunction with the holy Tradition, “which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle” (II Timothy 2.15); for both are witnesses to the Truth as coming from “the Church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the Truth’ (I Timothy 3.15). May God grant that this little book may be an aid to the interpretation of Holy Scripture in our generation, which is so afflicted by a famine of the word of God. December 21 / January 3, 2021/2022.
