War Deceptions

Operation Skye, one of many Allies deceptions used in WWII, created a fictional British Fourth Army in Scotland. Expecting the Germans to intercept the radio transmissions, deception radio operators passed coded radio messages that would have been created by an actual army. Lady Anne Fitzhugh-Howard Weber, daughter of The Duke of Ledbetter, reached an emotional dilemma: love of husband or country. To stop Tom, her husband and German spy, she had to convince him (by killing him if necessary) to not divulge the fact that Operation Skye was a deception designed to deceive the German military. Not stopping him meant Germany could win WWII. Anne, accompanied by MI-5 agent William Wells, chased Tom to northern Scotland. They stopped him in a dreary, wretched, dank sheepherder's cottage perched on a craggy, rocky wind-swept peninsula on Unst Island, a place for which the word "bleak" had been coined.
