In 2017, the writer set out on an informal crusade to single-handedly rehabilitate traditional tarot reading, which by the early 21st Century had come perilously close to irrelevance as an effective tool for helping others. Three damaging cultural trends - along with the emerging Covid pandemic- had conspired to undermine its influence in offering seekers "hands-on" personalized service : the "instant gratification" mentality encouraged by on-demand connectivity, the "fast food" ambiance of on-line fortune-telling and the bargain-priced, "throw-away" nonsense that was being offered by anyone with a tarot app, a PayPal, Venmo or Zelle account and electronic access to curious and usually just as clueless consumers. This volume is a compilation of 180 essays culled from over 1,400 on the writer's divination blog, offering a wide range of criticism and commentary on the subject of tarot and other divinatory arts as currently practiced. What began as a few random "pot-shots" soon evolved into a "full-scale assault," some of it tongue-in-cheek but most of it serious. This 205-page, 115,000-word compendium is a trove of tart wit and wise observation
