Protectors of the Pilgrims

The Knights Templar, enigmatic, mysterious, feared yet respected by Muslims, operated during the Crusades. They were renowned for their fierce battlefield prowess, banking acumen, and distinctive white mantles adorned with a red cross. But they were not the only military order that fought in the Crusades. The Knights Hospitallers fought alongside the Knights Templar, as did the Teutonic Knights, and there were others, such as the Knights of Lazarus, which was made up of Knights who were afflicted with Leprosy. This work will endeavour to establish the founding of these Christian organisations, their history, their demise, and how they were viewed at the time and today.
