A teenagers fortuitous close up encounter with a well known Hunting Lodge sparked an interest and curiosity that inspired a research journey to discover the life of property owner, Pembroke Jones. The Lodge was located in what is the now Landfall subdivision of Wilmington, NC.
The Joneses ultimately owned all of Landfall and Airlie. They became exceedingly wealthy and socially prominent during "The Gilded Age" and associated in the highest circles of society, with the likes of the Vanderbilts and Astors in New York, N.Y. and Newport, R.I.
