A ex Prussian officer enlists with the Confederates, and shows up to investigate the assassination of Confederate Earl van Dorn just before the second Yankee campaign on Vicksburg. You will find interesting new insights into whole Vicksburg Campaign, the over all Confederate war strategy, and the illustrious career of General Earl van Dorn. Two of my ancestors fought for the Rebels ~ Col. William Brown, head of the 20th Mississippi Cavalry and Sgt. Seigfried "Solomon" Erb of the 1st Arkansas Rifles (the very first Confederate unit formed). I currently live in Port Gibson, Mississippi - van Dorn's place of birth - and an integral part of the defense of Vicksburg back during the Civil War. It's a wonderful town ~ come visit us some time!
