This book captures the personal reflections offered by a humble member of the Greatest Generation. At the persistent urging of his four sons, William Lawrence "Bill" Brill tells the story of his service in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. The work began in earnest with a visit to the Boston University Library in 1996 for maps that represented the names of the Pacific Islands during World War II. For more than 12 years, the author would wrestle with both the call to write and the pain of the memories the task would awaken.
