Eight centuries BCE, the global population was inferred to be around five millions, soaring to roughly 250 millions when Julius Caesar fell, an escalating in the mid-17th century to around a half-billion. The significant benchmark of one billion circa 1850, doubled by 1930 and in 2011 seven billions crowded the world. Despite wars, famines, pestilence, climate change and a plethora of natural disasters, the relentless numbers keep marching upward at the alarming, exponential rate of three to five births per second, eleven to fifteen thousand per hour, hence the global population will double again in a relatively short san. But what lies beyond the crucial nexus when our planet can no longer tolerate the succeeding multitudes?
