Tattooed Wings

Poetry is painful. It can eviscerate the writer almost as much as it can free her. It is scabbed into the skin and worn permanent with ink, yet more than anything else, it gives you wings. This poetry collection is meant to be painful, visceral, immediate and personal. In a world that escapes universals, a world that hopes to move beyond the brutality and imperialism of the last several centuries, the only thing that we have left is the individual. The only way that we may look at each other is through eyes that acknowledge difference, and mark our skins, changing ourselves to let the other in.
