It's not every day that you find a comic series based on a film serial, that was based on a comic, that was based on a silent film that was based on a novel. Not even every month! TEX GRANGER as a comic character name began as a feature in CALLING ALL BOYS #10-17 (March 1947-May 1948), which was a character based on the novel “The Last Frontier and the 1926 silent film of the same name. When the character proved popular, the 1926 plot was reused in the 1948 serial TEX GRANGER – MIDNIGHT RIDER OF THE PLAINS. When the serial was well-received, CALLING ALL BOYS became TEX GRANGER ADVENTURE MAGAZINE with #18, running through #24 (September 1948 – September 1949). He had one more story in TRUE COMICS #83. Quite an adventure and a nice run of over 200 pages for the FIGHTING FRONTIER SHERIFF!
