Retired, living in Germany. 15 years ago, my wife and I stumbled across an old Rathaus (city hall) that was up for sale, and fell in love with it. After buying the building, we refurbished the structure for living, since it had no running water, plumbing or heating -- the electrical was over 100 years old. It took 5 years of exhaustive work, but we made it a gem. Everyone in our little town said we were crazy. All I have to say to that is: we're Americans. It takes a little craziness to live life interestingly. I hope you will find my books as interesting. Craziness is part of living life in the fullest.
