About
Betsy Hoffmeister
After a BA from Brown University and an MPA from the University of Washington, Betsy Hoffmeister worked for the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe in Budapest, Hungary. Betsy and her orchid-growing husband moved back to the States in 1999 to start a family. Their son was born at a freestanding birth center in Seattle in 2000. His birth changed Betsy’s life priorities. Rather than trying to change the world by reducing the risk of global warming, she realized her calling was to improve the lives of families, one baby at a time. During her son's first two years, she became a La Leche League Leader and birth doula, then certified as a teacher of The Bradley Method of Natural Childbirth®. Their daughter was born in 2005 in the family’s living room. In 2009, Betsy became an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant and retired from The Bradley Method® to found Northwest Natural Childbirth, part of Betsy's Baby Services. She gardens and knits, too.
