About
Jonas Clarke
Jonas Clarke is a pseudonym or pen name for author Carl F. Braun. The real Jonas Clarke was a clergyman that lived from 1730 until 1805. He was the Minister for the Church of Christ in Lexington, Massachusetts and from 1762 until 1776 Jonas wrote a series of papers that helped to spark the American Revolution. He was entertaining John Hancock and Samuel Adams on the evening of April 18th 1775 when Paul Revere arrived to tell them that General Gage had sent troops to arrest the Patriots. The Battle of Lexington occurred in the shadow of Reverend Clarke’s home and Church on the morning of April 19th. Several of his parishioners were killed in this, the first battle of the Revolutionary War. When he saw his fallen parishioners he said “…from this day will be dated the liberty of the world.” As Jonas helped spark a revolution that created a nation, my hope is these books will help spark a revolution of the mind where young children will once again embrace our history and traditions.
