The Institute for Eco-municipality Education and Assistance (IEMEA) provides support to eco-municipalities and those communities interested in taking a systematic, comprehensive approach to becoming a sustainable community. The ecomunicipality approach is based upon a highly successful model originating in Sweden where over 30 per cent of all municipalities are now eco-municipalities, taking a systems approach to sustainable change.
