Manbo Paula, a New Zealand-born artisan lives with her family and two cats amongst the beauty and serenity of New Zealand’s South Island high country. Manbo Paula has over 30 years Spiritual experience working in Africa, Australia, Britain, Canada, the Caribb, Europe and the USA. Manbo Paula began dreaming Vodou in the ‘90s and formed her Society, The Hounfor du Marche in ’98. Hounfor du Marche later became New Zealand’s first registered Vodou Society. In 2000, Damballah Wédo appeared in her dreams and she married him in a Spirit Wedding in 2001. Continuing on her Vodou journey, Manbo Paula kanzo’d asogwé in Jacmel in '04. Her Vodou continues in Haiti where she sevi-Lwa at Criminel’s Peristyle in Jacmel and at Temp Chango-Chawa in Cayes-Jacmel. Family Vodou has also become part of her Vodou. Here, contact with the Lwa is personal and intimate and she participates in Services with her Haitian friends in the jungles, caves and rocky ocean caverns of South East Haiti.
