Neil Hillman is a Sound Designer, Re-recording Mixer, Sound Supervisor and Location Sound Recordist who has worked in film and television for more than 30 years, and for over 20 of those, he has written professionally on sound and broadcasting-related matters. He operates a unique Sound Design Practice and Consultancy from his UK studios - The Audio Suite - and in conjunction with this work he is a part-time PhD Researcher at The University of York, exploring 'Emotion in Sound Design'. He is also a member of the University of York Sound Design research group. He is a past winner of a Royal Television Society ‘Best Production Craft Skills’ award and a multiple winner for Sound Design at the New York Film Festival. He carries out his most constructive thinking by riding motorcycles, sailing or by simply sitting perfectly still.
