Michael Taylor was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up in nearby Beaverton. He graduated from Reed College, put in three years with the U.S. Army, and took up writing by stages. Besides delving into ancient hisory, he enjoys hiking, calligraphy, traveling to far places, and Jungian dream-interpretation. He lives near Austin, Texas, with his wife Lynn.
