My first attempt at writing was an about my mother, Marie Louise Killick. 'A Sound Revolution', a book that tells of her 10 year battle to protect her patent rights to a revolutionary new gramophone stylus that was infringed by Pye Radio. Sometimes our lives seemed more like a thriller as she struggled to protect us from the intrigue that her battle involved. It took me over 20 years to research and write. During the process I found that I really enjoyed the art of writing. On a lighter side, I felt inspired to write children's stories. My first attempt was a short story 'The Journey'. A story about two sisters journey alone from London to enjoy a holiday on a farm. This led me on to write about a young boy called Jamie and the riverbank and the creatures that live beside and in the water. I have always loved the natural world and have found it fascinating researching about the 'River Folk' whom, to Jamie's delight, finds he can understand their conversations with each ot
