Thomas Archer
The author graduated from NY Maritime and sailed on supertankers, retiring as Chief Officer with accumulated time as Master. He brought jet fuel through the mined waters of the Persian Gulf for the Navy, fought pirates in the Strait of Malacca and was knighted in 2000. After retiring from the sea, he built and operated a commercial construction business in New York, then worked in the telecom industry designing high speed networks. He attended Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania, and developed a training program for technical project managers. He also produced the “Policies and Procedures for Identifying Locations Critical to the Survival of Communications in the Event of Disaster" for National Bandwidth and the technical specifications for the NYS "Wired Building Initiative". He has been consulted by government agencies on marine transportation and technology and serves on the boards of three corporations. Captain Sir Thomas Oldfield is the author of the Thomas Archer series.
