The author is not pictured above, he instead opted to include and image of his (adopted) daughter Schmittle on the grounds that people would prefer seeing her rather than his image. As to the author, he has been a lawyer and teacher for nearly three decades with a passion for history (both 'real and imagined' as Tolkien said) and a very jaded view of humanity with a soft spot in his tiny heart for abandoned rabbits.
