Rebecca Baize
I believe we all have Godly gifts and that we are to use them for His glory. The expressions on these pages do not come from me, but through me. I love to write poetry. One Ordinary Day will inspire you and make you feel. As a child, we were poor. Daddy died before I grew up. Momma begged the Salvation Army to help buy shoes so we could go to school. I remember helping her count out bags of bulgur for a family of nine and picking blackberries to sell door to door. My mother ironed all day to earn a dollar an hour. I remember how fresh peaches with sugar and milk tasted. I painted on steamed-up windows with my fingers, the water dripping into puddles on the window sill. I know the smell of Daddy’s freshly opened tobacco, and I’ve sucked the juice from sappy plums right off the tree. I have experienced the ache of divorce and death of a child. I have learned that simple words can be to excite the ear and please the eye, and touch the soul. I pray that this book of poetry brings you joy.
