Brian Dixon
Dr. Brian J. Dixon was raised in the fields of Southern Manitoba, Canada. Dreaming of rock stardom, he discovered teaching as an easy job with the summer’s off to tour the world. However, his first day in the classroom of a high-needs urban school in South Carolina, rocked his world and changed his career path forever. It was that day her began to discover the power of technology to engage students of all abilities and backgrounds. Over the years that followed, he has taught at public, private, and charter schools. He was the director of High Tech High Flex and has a doctoral degree in Educational Technology from University of San Diego and San Diego State University. He is the founding principal and Executive Director of Helix Schools, which runs the Mentorship Academy of Digital Arts and the Mentorship Academy of Science and Technology. He lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with his wife Julie, an elementary school teacher, and their son Ryland.
