I have worked in the financial services industry for 20 years and am also involved in projects promoting environmental and social causes. This involvement enables me to see the relationship between “normal” financial arrangements and the social problems these often cause. This unique perspective forms the basis of the book. I believe this book is particularly relevant at the moment. The collapse of the banks and the credit crunch have lead to economic recession. Equally the effects of climate change are starting to be felt via extreme weather patterns and rising food prices. These two phenomenon provide a unique opportunity to open the debate about how financial arrangements affect individuals and ultimately the environment. .
