Novelist, retired musician and international educator - still freelancing for England's BC in the Netherlands .... I was raised in the theatre when method acting was trending, when it was drilled into me to not just act out the lines but to BE the part. I’ll never forget the countless fuss, criticism and redirection until whatever measly part I ended up playing would develop into something believable in the eyes of whatever tyrannical director was momentarily in my charge. In looking back, I feel lucky that this sense of 'realism' stuck with me long after leaving the stage. I attempt this self-same approach in my writing – to live and breathe the air of each and every one of my characters. Whatever I struggle to arouse in my readers, attempting to do so with thoughts of my old method acting days, I've always wanted others to experience the lives of my characters as real enough to identify with, themselves.
