About
Clive Richardson
Clive grew up in London at the birth of the Soul era as Motown and Stax created their musical impact on the youth of the U.K. He formed a fan club for Atlantic star Don Covay when 'Mercy Mercy' was charting, and this was the foundation of a journalistic career lasting to the present day. Clive was contributing editor of Shout soul fanzine from 1967 - 1974, then regular contributor to Black Echoes newspaper in the late 70s/early 80s. His broadcasting career began in 1980 on London pirate station JFM Radio, moving to Solar Radio and thence to legal stations RTM, Kiss 100FM and Millennium before returning to the legal Solar Radio in 2000. Clive was also label manager of Shout Records, with classic soul reissues, and consultant to Fantastic Voyage Records, originating vintage gospel and soul projects. He now broadcasts weekly soul and blues music shows on Solar Radio - In Orbit with Clive R - at 10.00pm on Sundays at www.solarradio.com and on Maritime Radio - Soul City with Clive R - at 7.00pm each Thursday at www.maritimeradio.co.uk.
