Jan Berinstein has published three highly acclaimed books designed to help members of the legal profession format documents with Microsoft Word. The books, which she calls "technical manuals with a personal touch," provide step-by-step instructions plus pragmatic tips based on Ms. Berinstein's extensive experience as a legal word processor and a software trainer. They reflect her informal, friendly teaching style. Ms. Berinstein has been involved in dozens of software upgrades at law firms and government agencies over the past decade. She particularly enjoyed an 18-month contract job at the U.S. Department of Justice in Southern California, where she assisted with the agency's conversion from WordPerfect to MS Word. In that capacity, she designed templates, taught hands-on computer classes, and answered user support requests. She has a reputation as an extremely patient, knowledgeable trainer.
