Cherlnell Battles
Growing up in Chicago, Cookie Battles began her intimate love affair with writing at a very young age. Learning from some of the greats like Maya Angelou and Langston Hughes, she began reciting their and her works in front of school, church audiences and anyone who would listen. During her freshman year, she wrote a short story for English class that almost got her sent to the Dean for plagiarism! They eventually realized that it was her own work and she of course received a great grade for it. Looking back, she considers this her "confirmation.” Cookie would continue to write, taking every opportunity to share her gifts with others. Cookie's first masterpiece, Confessions of The Other Woman: Works From a Different Perspective was published in March 2013. Cookie also displays her poetry and her blog “ A Black Woman Living In Pain” a glimpse into her life with Fibromyalgia on her website www.cookiebattles.com Tales of an Undiscovered Writer (2014) Cookie is Second Completed work.
