I was born in the British Army Hospital in Bangalore, India, on 18 March 1936. My father was in the South Staffordshire Regiment, stationed in India at the time. We came to Australia in 1949. My sporting interests have included tennis and badminton, sailing, golf, ten-pin bowling, and pistol/rifle shooting (my favourite). I am also a glider pilot. Music has always been part of my life. I started piano lessons when I was five and have three guitars. My taste in music is eclectic but I like country music best. I am a very big fan of Don Gibson and have twice visited Shelby, North Carolina, and Nashville, Tennessee. When I started to write The Dream Singer I put down the first paragraph and didn't know what came next. I came back to it three months later and the four books of The Graham Family Quartet wrote themselves.
