Garrett Thompson

Dr. Thompson earned his B.A. (Biology) from Reed College in Portland, OR, his doctorate (Biochemistry) from Loma Linda University and his DC from SCUHS - Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. His post-doctoral tenure was spent in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UC Irvine. Dr. Thompson presented numerous posters and oral presentations, and has published peer-reviewed articles on breast cancer, asthma and bone diseases. His multi-disciplinary approach has resulted in his publication in the fields of bioinformatics, biophysics, biochemistry, cell biology, and tissue engineering. Other professional accomplishments include serving as a journal reviewer, contributing to Nature’s “Molecule Pages” and discovering and naming the protein ZIBRA: Zinc-In-Between-RING finger-UBA Associated protein. A wakeboarding accident suffered in the summer of 2004 inspired Dr. Thompson to pursue a career in chiropractic. Dr. Thompson joined the faculty ranks of SCUHS in January 2007.
