Jan Slepian
Jan Slepian, age 94, is the author of 28 books for children and young adults. Her young adult novel, The Alfred Summer, was a nominee for the National Book Award and included in the School Library’s list of “100 books that shaped the century.” In her 90’s, Slepian wrote two books of humorous and poignant brief essays about being old, "Astonishment: Life in the Slow Lane" and "How to be Old: a Beginner’s Guide". Both books were adopted for the stage by a well-known reparatory theatre company in her former home state of New Jersey.
