Mel Atkey has written five books, When We Both Got to Heaven and Broadway North: The Dream of a Canadian Musical Theatre, both published by Natural Heritage Books, and A Million Miles from Broadway – Musical Theatre Beyond New York and London and Running Away with the Circus – or “Now is the Winter of our Missing Tent”, and Breaking into Song published by Friendlysong. He has contributed articles to various magazines, newspapers (and one academic journal) in his native Canada. He has worked in radio and television as a broadcaster, but his first love is musical theatre, a subject on which he has lectured internationally.
