Garry Parker
Garry Parker is a lifelong martial artist, an avid researcher, nature lover, craftsman, and teacher. He is a USAF veteran and lived in Okinawa during the 1990's as an Airman stationed at Kadena Air Base, where he learned to embrace, live, and love the culture, language, food, and martial arts. Parker was a disciple of Goshukan-Ryu founder - Takamiyagi Hiroshi - for three decades until Takamiyagi Sensei's death in 2019. As the senior practitioner and teacher of Goshukan-Ryu outside of the Okinawa HQ, Parker was appointed the North American General HQ (Honbu) Director (Kaicho), a position that he has held since 2017. Career and education: After separating from the military, Parker owned several businesses including a construction company and and executive protection firm. After retiring from those businesses, Parker worked as an executive in the Aviation sector until his retirement. Throughout different stages in his career path, Parker pursued education to improve his understanding and skillset, with degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Technology, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, and Aviation Business Management, he lives the mantra "Always a student." In Parker's words: "Outside the dojo, I enjoy the great outdoors, helping people succeed, red wine, strong coffee, hot bacon, and cool breezes." This published content will be centered primarily on Okinawan martial arts and culture, specifically Goshukan-Ryu Karate and Wu Zu Quan.
