A particular area of interest is Latin America, specifically small-scale non-Western societies in the Andean Region. I have numerous intellectual interests that include studying sex and gender roles within religious communities; division of labor and system of exchange; as well as domestic, structural and political violence. I've worked with individuals from a wide variety of cultures, and traveled extensively. Because of the nature of my work and travels, understanding other cultures - rather than merely visiting and enjoying - has been paramount to the development of my worldview.
