George W. Alexander was born in Bay Shore, New York March 23, 1947. Later he moved to Delray Beach, Florida. He established Japan Karate School there in 1986 and taught at Florida Atlantic University and was a regular demonstrator at Morikami Park. He is the President and Founder of the International Shorin Ryu Karate Kobudo Federation. He began his martial arts training in 1960 and expanded his knowledge later in 1964 while serving in the United States Marine Corps. He then journeyed to mainland Japan, Okinawa and Southeast Asia. He led jungle teams in Vietnam as part of 3rd Force Recon. He also trained in Judo, Kyokushinkai and Goju Ryu karate. Later he earned his Ph.D. in political science and Asian history and was a professor at the State University of New York. He continues to write books on martial arts and Asian geopolitics. He now resides and teaches martial arts in Palm Coast, Florida.
